Best Places to Live – North Park
Welcome back!
If you ask people where the cool kids hang out, people will tell you North Park. This neighborhood is 1 of San Diego’s craft beer hubs with such breweries as Mike Hess, Fall Brewing, Poor House, Belching Beaver, Rip Current, and Modern Times. Can you say ‘Delicious’? But that’s not just the only reason. There’s also really good and mouth watering food selections such as UnderBelly, The Smoking Goat, City Tacos, Wow Wow Waffle (authentic Belgian waffles), StreetCar Merchants, Carnitas Snack Shack, Moncai Vegan, Cantina Mayahuel, and Urban Solace to name a few. Oh, and how can I forget Sguaros for those late night Mexican cravings after a long evening of drinking!
Besides being a great are to satisfy the palate, the neighborhood is quite quaint with the surrounding craftsman homes and everything is within biking or walking distance. And did I mention that there are some cool events that happen here every year such as: The North Park Festival of Arts in May where music meets art and beer – it’s a free festival that includes unique art, vendor booths, live graffiti art demonstrations, fabulous food, craft beer and exciting live music performances spread across six stages; Ray at Night - Held the 2nd Sat of the month, it’ is the largest and longest running monthly art walk in San Diego. The gallery walk event showcases over 24 merchants on the narrow, one-way Ray Street between University Ave and North Park Way; Bird Park Summer Concerts – a free concert that happens during the 3 summer months. There is a wide range of music styles, from Cajon and blues to rock and jazz. The park is located next to the Morley Field Sports Complex at 28th and Thorn Streets. Concerts run during the dinner hour from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Bring the family and friends, pack a picnic, and enjoy!
The Walk score, which is a number from 0-100 that helps you find a walkable place to live, is 79. The Bike Score is 59. If a place is a tiny bit too far, then hop on your bike!
The median home in Normal Park is about $495,000 and the average rent is around $1,700.
Come check out North Park. You won’t regret it!
